![]() Yim was transported to Abington Memorial Hospital for treatment of a single gunshot wound to his shoulder. Yim ran into the nearby woods and was quickly apprehended by Cheltenham police, the release stated. As the officer and defendant wrestled for control of the firearm, a shot was fired striking Yim in the shoulder. Yim responded by immediately punching the officer in the face and head and attempting to grab the officer’s service revolver. ![]() The initial investigation by the Montgomery County Detective Bureau and detective’s review of bodycam footage found that the officer exited his patrol car, approached Yim and asked him to sit down to talk. Police responded and located the male in the 500 block of Bridal Way. Per protocol, the DA’s Office will investigate the weapon firing by the police officer, whose name is not being released at this time, according to a press release from Steele.Īccording to the release, at 9:01 a.m., Saturday, a 911 operator dispatched Cheltenham Township Police for a call of a suspicious male walking along Twickenham Road.
